The House
The Palmers have been living in the House for just over a month now. It’s a short time, but there has been ample opportunity to observe them, study their movements and habits. They’re perfect.
Four total. A husband, a wife, a seven-year-old daughter, and an infant son. Breaking them will be simple. Once the father falls, the rest will go easily.
No One’s Curse
Leiany was walking through the mall of her small Pennsylvania town, searching for a new dress to wear out on a date. It was her first time going out since ending things with Alan, and she was going to look hotter than ever before. Her hair was done, her nails were painted. All she needed was the perfect, eye-popping dress.
She had been to three stores already, but nothing was perfect. She wandered into another, munching on a pretzel as she searched through the racks. Her eyes fell upon a slim, red latex halter. That was it, the dress to make this new guy fall in love with her.
The Limit Does Not Exist
Riley jolted up in bed. Numbers, remnants of a dream he could no longer remember, flashed through his vision before fading away. Light poured in through the windows. How long had he slept? Diane would be frustrated if she had to watch the kids all morning while he slept. She had planned to call into her office to check on anything she missed during the move.
A Day Unlike Any Other
The day starts like any other day. My fourth alarm of the morning finally forces me out of bed at 6:45 a.m. After dragging myself to the bathroom and splashing some water on my face, I tie my hair up into a messy bun and grab whatever (hopefully clean) clothes I see first. I remember when I used to care how I looked every single day, but it’s my senior year. I’m just trying to vibe on through.
Pokémon Vengeance Part 1
Elera stalks through the tall, thick grass toward her target, which is facing away from her in a small clearing beneath a giant Oran Berry tree. It hasn’t detected her yet, thanks to the thick coating of pollen she smeared over her skin. Every step releases a cloud of yellow which enters her nose and nearly makes her sneeze. She manages to hold it in by narrowing her focus on the tall, flower-like creature before her. She has seen similar beasts before, but this one is much larger than the others she has come across. It is nearly six feet in height, standing well above her own frame.
Overtaken
Garmand stepped down from the plank onto the soft sands of Aluntra and inhaled the familiar scent of roseberry pine mingling with the salt water. The sun beat down on him, warming the green season air and Garmand’s muscles, which had grown stiff after many days at sea. He frowned and grunted out loud before being forced to shield his face from a spray of sand being kicked up by the hooves of his horse, Hup, who was happily trotting around the beach after the week spent at sea. Despite his sour mood, a laugh escaped Garmand’s throat as he jumped onto Hup’s back and galloped across the beach, just as he had countless times before. He turned Hup to face the castle rising from the top of the cliff in the distance. After three long years away, he was home.
Captive
Dr. Kelvin Glenn gulped down a glass of water, flushing the two pills he just took down his throat as a knock echoed through his office. His patient was right on time for once, leaving him with no time to try to eliminate the stabbing pain that had erupted behind his eyes. “Come in,” he called through the pain.
Two Pills a Day
William took two pills a day, one every morning at precisely 8 a.m. and one every night at precisely 8 p.m. For fifteen years, he never missed a single pill.
A Choice
“What’s it going to be? Do you want the job or not?”
Arryn blinked a couple of times. What should he do? Here he was, being offered a job that would severely limit his opportunities to advance further. Sure, it was good money for a 26-year-old only three years removed from college, but did he really want to be stuck in this pay bracket for the rest of his life?
A Day Like Any Other
The day starts like any other day. My alarm wakes me up at 6:00 a.m. After some light stretching to warm myself up, I go into the bathroom and start my morning routine.
Life Sentences
As Damian sits, huddled underneath an awning outside a local grocery store, waiting for it to open and trying to avoid the rain cascading over the edge in a torrent of cold water, he looks back on his life and how he ended up here.
